BIOGRAPHY

Matt Jones is a sculptor trying to understand the mechanisms of the world through the scientific method.  He received a BA from Dartmouth College in 2002 with majors in Psychology and Studio Art, and received his MFA from Stanford University in 2008.  His work has continued to reflect his dual interests in science and art, using sculpture as a means of testing scientific theory, particularly in the fields of artificial life, cognition, and physics.  His work has been shown nationally, in group and solo shows in Santa Fe, Chicago, New York, and San Francisco and internationally in Cologne, Germany.  He was awarded the Murphy-Cadogan Fellowship in 2007 from the San Francisco Art Commission and the Perspectives on Design Award in 2002 from Dartmouth College.  He lives and works in Los Angeles.
